Its official Kanye West has surpassed the king of pop, Michael Jackson when it comes to top 40 hits.
According to reports, the rapper has more top 40 hits compared to Michael and this came after his latest hit collaboration with Schoolboy Q “That Part” moved from position 42 to 40 this week.
Before this latest achievement, Kanye West was placed second to Michael Jackson with 39 top 40 hits.
Yeezy as his better known has always stated that Michael Jackson is one of his greatest influencers and role models and he wouldn’t be where he is today if it wasn’t for the legendary king of pop.
Though he surpassed the record set by Michael Jackson, Kanye trails other musicians such as the King of Rock, Elvis Presley who holds the record with 80 top 40 hits.
Lil Wayne comes second with 69, Elton John is third with 57, and Drake has 53 while Stevie Wonder has 40. Other top performers include Jay-Z with 45, James Brown with 44, and Chris Brown with 42 and the late Marvin Gay with 41.
Speaking to the BBC, Kanye says that it hasn’t been easy to make hits and like many other musicians, he had to put in lots of effort and dedication.
But he owes his success to the good foundation that was laid out by his dad, mum and grandfather.
