A young black man with a mental disability was allegedly subjected to months of racial abuse by three white teammates, he taught to sing racist songs and told to fight back by coaches. Eventually the teammates raped him with a coat hanger.
Defendant John RK Howard signed something known as an Alford plea back in December for the charge of felony injury of a child. This plea allows him to maintain innocence but agree that the evidence would mean the jury could find him guilty.
Originally Howard was charged with forcible sexual penetration by a foreign object for which he faced a sentence of up to life in prison.
However on Friday he pleaded guilty, along with the other two unnamed teens, but the charge is not known as court papers are remained sealed.
He was handed down three years of probation and 300 hours of community service.
On Friday, one of Howard’s lawyers claimed that the parents of the victim made up the story to sue Dietrich High School for $10 million, the parents angrily left the court room!
