“Kids living in student residences in the Columbia, where marijuana consumption rate is same or more than the hood are always left aside in this war.” Jay Z

Jay Z, the celebrated businessman and hip hop performer describes through a video that how the war against drug shaped up and how it was inappropriately severe against black Americans.

The New York Times published this video where Jay Z also cited the fact that the drug users are still there at the same ration as they were in the 1971 when Nixon announced this “war” against the drug.

He also stated that the government must rethink on their plans and strategies as the drug war has failed badly.

Molly Crabapple, the New York based illustrated different aspects of the drug war in this video.

It shows how the presidents Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon gave much too much importance to the drugs and neglected other sensitive issues that concerns citizens.

Jay Z shows how the impacts of Reaganomics and the end of social protection plans, the mass job extinctions in cities and school privatization were always less discussed.

In the past, he also cited his struggle against drugs at his teenage and stated how young teenagers who had a hard time like him became the guilty and drug was quick to find them as they were morally weaker.
