The author of the new black and brown positive children’s book series about a young determined brave black girl and her adventures reaches out to us to share the first book in the series “Onyx McFly Saves The Day”

The book looks awesome, informative and educational. These are the books we need young girls and boys to be reading! And of course, just because Onyx is black it doesn’t mean it’s inspirational only for young black children, all children will benefit from these stories.

Here is what author Crystal Judkins wrote to us:

Hope all is well! You’re doing some amazing things and it’s soooo awesome to be able to see our accomplishments on a large platform.

My name is Crystal Judkins and I’m a self-published author and para-educator from Alexandria, Virginia.

While being in education, I noticed the lack of diversity in children’s literature and it always bothered me. I’m often on the hunt, discovering new and innovative ideas for learning; but I could never shake the disparity that I witnessed throughout my tenor as an educator.

After years of reading stories that my babies couldn’t relate to, I decided that something needed to change! I wanted our students/children to be able to look at those pages and see themselves.

Although colleagues have encouraged me to do so for years, I finally made the decision to fuse my love for inspiring children with my gift of the pen.

I FINALLY DID IT! In early September, I released my very FIRST children’s book entitled, “Onyx McFly Saves the Day!”

“Onyx McFly is a tough and determined eight-year-old girl, who is as bright as she is brave. With her multi-colored sidekick Boom by her side, Onyx uses her imagination to live out a host of fabulous exploits, stimulated by her surroundings.”

The “Onyx McFly” series will include characters and stories that not only African American girls and boys can relate to, but students of different abilities will be able to relate as well! This is SO necessary!

“Onyx McFly Saves the Day!” is the first book to be published in the series.
“Having always wanted to be a superhero, Onyx tells the story about a time when she had to become just that, and use her flair and resourcefulness to solve a real life problem and save the day!”

I’m super excited about the things to come and I’m sooooo looking forward to the “Onyx McFly ” book series inspiring the little black/brown girls and boys all over the world! I need YOUR help making this a movement!
