Davion Only did a brave thing. He was about to age out of foster care and decided to stand up in church and ask for a family to adopt him. His plea went viral, after he said “Dad or Mom…

I’ll Take Anyone, Black White Purple I Don’t Care”. 10,000 families offered to take him in and eventually he was adopted. Now marks two years with that family. Below is an ABC report from shortly after he was adopted:

Finally tonight here you’ll remember the foster child who stood before his church with a plea, asking for a family. His words heard across america and his wish answered tonight, a family to wake up with christmas morning. Here’s abc’s steve osunsami. Reporter: Of all the many people in this world hoping to be home for the holidays, you can’t help but root for a 15-year-old foster child davion only, who got dressed up one sunday in september, stood before families at a florida church, and begged anyone to adopt him.

“Dad or mom,” he said. “Black, white, purple, I don’t care.” I just said, I know god hasn’t given up and I’m not either. Reporter: We were inspired meeting him. This young man, taking his future in his own hands. There is someone out there for you? Hopefully. Our door is always open to you. Reporter: Over 100,000 families offering to take him in and show him the love he’s missed all these years. Reporter: And they were calling to meet other children too. The amount of people interested in adopting has doubled since the story came out, so davion’s the hero. Reporter: And guess what, he’s a hero who’s found a home. And tonight, yes tonight, he’s preparing to spend christmas with what may be his forever family. He’s going to be staying for christmas with his soon to be hopefully adoptive family. Reporter: It’s a delicate process. No one’s sharing the family’s name, what whether they’re black, white or purple, as davion said. We do know that doesn’t matter much to him. I just want people to put me in their family and love me no matter what happens. Reporter: To davion and to your new family, you are america strong. Steve osunsami, abc news, atlanta. More than 100,000 families answering the call.

The christmas spirit in america.
