Five-O has taken on a whole new meaning, thanks to a few high school teens. Siblings Caleb, Ima, and Asha Christian of Decatur, GA founded a mobile app development company called Pinetart, Inc., and released an app that documents incidents with law enforcement.

Five-O allows citizens to “take charge of your interactions with law enforcement”. Users can create incident reports detailing their good or bad experience with officers. Details include the date of the event, information about the stop, and identifying details about the officer.

With icons allowing you to find local police stations by county, a map of your current location, and information about your rights, you can also search for other incidents in your area created by other Five-O users.

The teens learned to code using MIT’s k12 Scratch and App Inventor programs, and learned HTML, CSS, and JavaScript at the encouragement of their parents. The app is in Alpha testing, and will be publicly available to Apple and Android users on August 18th, 2014.

“We’d like to know which regions in the US provide horrible law enforcement services as well as highlight the agencies that are highly rated by their citizens.

In addition to putting more power into the hands of citizens when interacting with law enforcement, we believe that highly rated police departments should be used as models for those that fail at providing quality law enforcement services”, says Co-founder and Parkview High School senior, Ima Christian.
