So, Can you be racist towards white people?

Racism is a tough topic to delve deeply into. One thing is clear, the racism faced by black and POCs in the United States is out of control. We are on the verge of opening black holes, traveling to distant planets, curing a gazillion diseases…. But we can’t stop attacking each other! 2016 wasn’t supposed to be like this.

Movements like Black Lives Matter are on the rise because frankly they are needed. Black folks are making their own award ceremonies and forming cohesive groups. And white people are not really allowed to be a part of all this…. Some people are saying, thats racist right?

This is known as ‘Reverse Racism’ and a lot of people accuse POCs of being racist back to whites. However, many claim that racism towards whites just isn’t possible… And it seems that Google may actually agree!

Ok, so the Quora result says you can be, then the Huff Post article goes into depth about it. It states:

It really all comes down to semantics. At some point, the actual meaning of “racism” got mixed up with other aspects of racism — prejudice, bigotry, ignorance, and so on. It’s true: White people can experience prejudice from black people and other non-whites. Black people can have ignorant, backwards ideas about white people, as well as other non-white races. No one is trying to deny that. But racism is far more complex.

Somewhere, either by algorithm or human choice Google decided to present a non-biased answer to the question!

It’s interesting how a search engine result can shape the ‘facts’ and ‘knowledge’ passed onto the users.
