GA Police Shoot & Kill 25 Year Old Man Over Traffic Warrant Outside His Job; Eye Witness Says There Was No Threat

The story line is all too familiar. It seems each day we wake up in this country to a new headline about another black man fatally shot and killed by the police. Today is no different.

This time the scene of the police execution happened in Smyrna, Georgia. This part of Cobb County is northwest of Atlanta where people are wondering how such a tragic thing could happen again to another seemingly nonthreatening black man.

Nicolas Thomas 25The police haven’t released the victim’s name yet, but the local Channel 2 news outlet is reporting the man’s name as Nicolas Thomas, age 25.

“I guess now, I just want to understand what happened, because I hear so often and here it is now.  I’m a professional, my wife is a professional and we have a kid that’s dead,” Thomas’ father, Huey Thomas told Channel 2 News.

Thomas worked Goodyear Tire and about 1:30pm, the Smyrna police went to serve him an arrest warrant for a probation violation. According to his parents, this resulted from a traffic violation.

The police officer claim when Thomas spotted them, he ran towards his car trying to flee the scene. He started driving towards them and they opened fire on the car, killing the  young man.

“When you go to serve a suspect who knows that he is wanted he is unpredictable and we have to react based on his actions, that’s what we did today,” Sgt. Ed Cason with the Smyrna Police Department told Channel 2 News.

As you probably guessed by now, witnesses on the scene contradict the officers claims of being under heavy threat.

“They were standing behind the car, opening fire. He wasn’t driving towards them,” Brittany Eustache who was inside the Goodyear told Channel 2 News. “The car was not moving when they begin to shoot at him. The car had been stopped he hit curb he could go any further.”

The police investigation is still open, so we all are awaiting more details, but one thing is for sure. There is another family wondering how could this happen? And a less than 5 month old fire that no longer has a father do to him being shot and killed by the police who are suppose to be here to protect and serve.

SOUND OFF: UI Family, when will we have enough of being shot down in the streets like dogs by police we pay to “protect & serve”?
