Former NBA All-Star Debuts his new Fast Food Alternative for Health Conscious Americans

The idea for this healthy alternative to greasy fast food came out of frustration in the Allen household. Shannon Allen, wife of former Miami Heat superstar Ray Allen, began to get frustrated with her busy lifestyle and lack of healthy fast food options especially since one of their 5 children has type 1 diabetes. As a mother of three I can relate to having fussy, hungry kids in the car with nothing but chicken nuggets and fries as a quick fix. From her frustration Grown was birthed.

Let me tell you the food looks amazing and they have received raving reviews since opening last month. Grown is located in Miami and is definitely on my list of places to visit on my next trip to MIA. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. They offer a wide array of meal options ranging $4 to $18. You can get freshly made juice, fruit smoothies, soups, salads, sandwiches and gluten-free baked goods. All options are organic, most of their produce is purchased from local farmers. Their food is made fresh daily with the help of the executive Todd Kiley from Rainforest Café and Boston’s Legendary Restaurant Group.

It is great to see so many healthy options available in a society that is becoming more health conscious. And let’s be honest $4 to $18 is well worth it when we’re talking about our health. Hopefully they’ll have the opportunity to expand for those us that don’t live in Miami.
