Things are about to get interesting! Only a couple of days after the Golden State Warriors took home the NBA Championship, we finally have on paper a scheduled boxing match between undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather and UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor. The deal was just inked this morning and is set to be on Showtime on August 26th. According to Dana White, UFC President, the fight will be at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will be contested at 154 pounds. It will be a standard, 12-round boxing match with 10-ounce gloves. White also said on UFC Tonight on Fox Sports 1 will be the biggest bout in fight history.

The Nevada Athletic Commission on Wednesday approved the request from Mayweather Promotions to put on a boxing card at the T-Mobile Center in Las Vegas. Mayweather Promotions will also be the lead promoter. The fight, which has been developing since 2015, comes as a surprise since Mayweather said that he would retire after his last fight in the Fall of 2015.

He bested Manny Pacquiao, his immediate boxing rival in a bout back in May of 2015. Conor McGregor is going to be his most challenging opponent yet.

For one, McGregor comes from the UFC.

He’s going to come out aggressive from the jump with the aims of knocking Floyd out. Conor McGregor is taller (5’9’’) and has a longer arm length (74’’) than Floyd. However, the most convincing challenge is the age gap. Floyd is 40 and coming out of retirement while McGregor is 28 and still an active fighter. Nevertheless, I have faith in Floyd. His defensive technique is impeccable and I’ve seen him make fighters look crazy trying to catch him. Nevertheless, I’m ready for August 26th. Are you?
