Florida Cop Kills Man By Running Him Over With His Car, Will Not Be Charged

WARNING: Black men in this country are clearly under attack. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, this has been our state of being for the past few hundred years here in America, but many of us refuse to wake to this reality.

In yet another stunning piece of physical evidence ending in the death of a non-threatening black man, a man was run over by a cop car. This happened in the State of Florida, which has been on record for killing black men and not charging the offenders…it has happened again.

Unfortunately, if you choose to view the video, this horrific killing was captured on video for all to see. Marlon Brown, age 38, had been pulled over for an alleged seat belt violation by one police officer. For whatever reason, he got out of his car and ran through a vegetable garden.

The police officers who pulled Brown over were in chase when Officer James Harris sped by them in his car in hot pursuit. Brown seemed to slip and fall while running from the police cars and this is when Harris ran his police car on top of him and stopped.

From Think Process: An internal police investigation found that Harris violated the Department’s chase policy, and he was fired. But the grand jury found there was not enough evidence to criminally prosecute Harris for vehicular homicide. Brown’s family points out that the jury had not seen video of the incident, and questions the testimony of the medical examiner, Shiping Bao, who was fired after his testimony in Trayvon Martin’s case. Bao said the car didn’t strike Brown and that Brown had no broken bones, but that he was pinned underneath the car and suffocated.

“This was an execution in a vegetable garden,” the Brown family attorney, Benjamin Crump, said upon release of the video. “The officer came at Marlon with such velocity that … he could not have stopped.” Crump was also the attorney for Trayvon Martin’s family.

Prosecutors chose to bring the case before a grand jury, which decides in secret whether an individual should be charged. But that was not their only option. Prosecutors could have also made their own unilateral decision, or used a coroner’s inquest — a public hearing at which evidence is presented without the shroud of a grand jury proceeding.

Watch the video, but I must admit it is disturbing:

At this point, i’m just floored by the assault on the black man in this country and I want to know when are we going to stand up as a people and do something about it. Many are comfortable with their cushy jobs, trillion dollars of spending power, but what will you do when this sort of tragedy strikes your family? Will you join the fight now or complain when there is no one there for you and your family in your time of need?

It seems we are the only community content to stand around with our iphones in our pocket, playing games on our tablets, and watching flat screen televisions to fight back. How? Well, if we start with economic boycotts, things in this country will change…politically, financially and institutionally!

If history has told us one thing, it is nothing will change in this country until you effect the MONEY! They say follow the money if you want to know the truth. Well, STOP the money if you want justice.

Mr. Brown could have been your uncle, brother, father, or son. Think about it, black community!
