We can’t let our brothers and sisters in Flint fade into obscurity and irrelevance. We know their crisis is no longer mainstream news but it IS still a crisis. Many still can’t drink the water and people are suffering.
The public have short memories and donations are slowing down but we can’t let this happen.
So where are things right now?
Food Bank of Eastern Michigan president Bill Kerr told ABC 12 News:
“You know, we’re not at the peak of the media’s attention right now and you know, quite honestly, the water in the state it is, where the water is drinkable in Flint now as long as you use filters, there is less need in some peoples’ eyes for bottled water,” but that “We will continue to supply water to the community as long as it’s needed.”
However, can this be trusted? Resident Steve Bryant said. “The water’s not good now,” and that “They’re saying it’s OK to drink, but it’s not. No, I don’t trust them. They lied before and they’d lie again.”
And you know what, he is totally right. For the sake of Flint that water needs to be 100% safe to drink. What if your filter gets a day too old, what if the contamination rises? The situation still isn’t good.
This is the lives of kids we are talking about. Lead poisoning.
The donations are down, the water will not be safe for years to come.
The 20,000 – 25,000 corroded pipes that may have to be replaces will cost the state at least $60 million, but that’s not the bad part. The repairs may take up to 15 years!
SO, WHAT CAN WE DO?
Well, water is needed now, the longer term help can come in many ways but right now the Flint Water Fund seems like a place to help.
Flint Water Fund
The United Way of Genesee County has set up this fund for the purchase of filters, bottled water, emergency support services and prevention efforts. 100% of the fund is used for these projects and no Administrative Fee is assessed.
The UWGC has sourced more than 11,000 filters systems and 5,000 replacement filters, ongoing sources of bottled water to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and also supports a dedicated driver for daily distribution.

So, let’s all empty out a few pennies and make sure the kids are safe. I’ve just given a little myself and will continue to do so.
Thank you.
Flint needs help with trucks to rip out those water mains and lines and force them to install new lines from the same water source that they pipe in for Whites, and then to make sure they discharge and nullify every single water bill from the time the water became polluted until it is running clear again. And that is ALL they need help with, as well as some RETRAINING about their own civil rights in this nation.
Quit empowering whites to riches with that bottled water and do the right thing. That bottled water came from MUNICIPAL sources that NO ONE has a right to profit from. The government has not paid for that water, they have no business charging anyone for what they have not paid for themselves.
The costs of running the facilities needs to be divided up by who uses the most water, not a blanket charge for water usage.
