The United States of America is officially like living in the movie “Groundhog’s Day” for black people. This is the movie where the same day occurs over and over again. Only with black people in this country, unarmed black men are shot and killed by the police over and over, day after day.

Friday, the Oklahoma sheriff’s office released a video of an unarmed black man, Eric Harris, running from the police after being stopped for another violation. The video is very disturbing.

Harris was caught by a police officer and subdued face down when an officer comes up yelling “Taser” two times before firing his a single shot from his weapon, not the taser. The shooter was Reserve Deputy Robert Bates.

Harris died an hour later.

The shooting is being ruled an accident for now because Bate’s screams “Taser” before shooting Harris in the back. After realizing he shot him with his weapon, he drops the gun and says

“Oh! I shot him. I’m sorry.”

As Harris is on the ground with cops on top of him, one with his knee on his head, he complains of being shot and short of breathe. The officer with his knee on his head says, “F**k your breathe”, which is causing a lot of controversy around the country.

However, i’m curious as to why people are outraged over the “F**k your breathe” comment and not the entire scene in general? Seriously, why would the guy who is clearly subdued be shot with a taser in the first place?

Let’s stop acting like that wouldn’t have been an excessive use of force and out of line. Why is the police officer’s knee on the guy’s head? Why after he is shot does he need to be handcuffed? Where is the compassion for the people they are suppose to be patrolling?

The police in this country are out of control and something needs to be done.

How many unarmed, black men need to be killed before something is done?

I keep preaching, the findings by the DOJ in Ferguson are not isolated incidences. If we were to prob more police departments around the country, i’d bet my bottom dollar many more would be discovered.

Outcomes like this and the video evidence bubbles these things to the surface, but you better believe this is happening in our communities all across the country.
