The police officers in Ferguson, MO, started wearing body cameras attached to their uniforms. These are typically small lipstick style cameras or boxed cameras attached to the clothing of the officer. It faces and sees what the officer sees during an arrest or encounter with citizens.

Ferguson officers wore the body cameras while watching protesters over the weekend and will continue to wear them regularly.
Rising concern by citizens over the police brutality and treatment of individuals are the chief concern for this change. The hope is to have an independent observer at every encounter by police force to protect the general public and good cops doing their jobs the right right.
Other police forces around the country are considering adapting the use of body cameras.
