Dr. Hadiyah Nicole Green, a holder of a Masters and a Ph.D. degree, is making important steps towards the discovery of cancer treatment that involves nanoparticles and lasers.
To see her groundbreaking research come to fruition, Dr. Nicole was recently awarded a $1.1 million dollar.
The source of her motivation
Being one of the less than a hundred black female physicists in the USA, Dr. Nicole Green bears a personal connection with the research she is undertaking. Having lost both her mother and father to the disease, Green got inspired to invent a cure.
She hopes that the technology will change the way cancer patients are treated in America.
How the technology works
This technology works by having an FDA approved drug containing nanoparticles injected into cancer patient. This will cause the cancer patient’s tumor to glow under imaging equipment, therefore activating the particles and ultimately destroying them.
Although she is not the first one to campaign for this technology, hers has gone steps ahead and promises fruits in the near future.
Dr. Green embraces opportunities to interact with nongovernmental organizations and schools. She is, in fact, considers talking to search groups her responsibility as she believes she belongs to a village of people.
She is also a mentor with a large number of black women in college, courtesy of her.
