As you know, the movie “Straight Out of Compton” is coming out soon. The movie is about the life and times of the rap group NWA, which Dr. Dre was a part of decades ago.

The movie is sparking a lot of interest in the remaining members of the group and Dre, being the business man he is, decided to release his first album in 16 years. With all the hype and buzz around the movie, the album is sure to generate some sales and profit.

Dr. Dre is just about a billionaire thanks to selling his Beats By Dre headphone line to Apple recently and doesn’t really need the extra funds. He decided to donate his earnings to help others.

The entrepreneur made a savvy move developing the music inspiring hardware, but sold to one of the world’s most powerful and influential companies, Apple Inc.

Believe it or not, Dr. Dre does have a social conscious and is concerned with the development of the black community.

[ADSENSE2]After speaking with Compton’s Mayor Aja Brown, Dr. Dre decided to give back to the city that much needs his help.

He said he, “decided to donate all of my artist royalties from the sale of this album to help fund a new performing arts and entertainment facility for the kids in Compton.

”

We think this is a great gesture by Dre and does show he is trying to find new ways to help out others that grew up in similar situations like him. The performing arts center will be a haven for raw talent to learn, grow and develop in the discipline they dream.
