Detroit Teen Faces 20 Years For Accidentally Shooting Two Cops He Thought Were Breaking Into His House

Before I get started, we all know that police accidentally shoot people they think are what they are not all the time. In general they are treated innocent until proven guilty! However, in this case the role seems to be reversed and of course, it seems so is the treatment!

According to his father, Vincent Redd, he 19-year-old Detroit teen Juwan Plummer was at home and apparently shaken up from a burglary attempt a week prior. So when he heard noises and saw flashlights outside while in the basement of his home he fired off warning shots.

The pellets grazed one cop in the arm and hit another in the face, one became lodged in his jaw.

Seeing as sourced describe these as pellets it seems he fired a pellet gun, YET he is being charged with multiple counts including intentional discharge of a firearm in a building causing serious injury. He could face upto 20 years in jail.

Redd said:

“He never heard anyone announce themselves,… He just saw flashlights down by the window and heard a noise approaching the porch.”

Police say this is not the case and that the officers announced themselves and knocked on the door. His father is currently looking for a lawyer to take on the case.

Personally the story makes no sense. Why would he intentionally fire a gun at two officers standing outside his home. Surely the case needs to be approached from a position of sympathy but the cops are going after him hard!
