After visiting their grandparents for the weekend, Deianeira Ford, decided to take her children to Dairy Queen. After ordering her food she noticed her order was wrong and asked them to fix her order. Insulted by her reasonable request the owner was rude to her so she asked for her money. Upon issuing her refund the store owner decided to spew racial slurs at Ford and her children.
Ford told the Washington Post that James “Jim” Crichton, called her and her children niggers and told them to go back where they came from.
“He took out his flip phone and he said he would take a picture and put it on Facebook because he wants to show the world what kind of nigger he has to deal with. Then he shut the window and walked away,” said Ford.
Just two days after the altercation the franchise closed the Zion location, which many are happy to hear. It is absolutely great that the location was closed. Crichton thought that because he was the owner he could be disrespectful to his black customers, yes customers, Ford was not the only black customer he insulted. She was just the only one to speak out. What Crichton ignorantly failed to realize is that even franchise “owners” have rules to abid by.
Although she was vendicated she had to answer a cringing question her 3 year old asked her, “Mommy, [are] we niggers?”
