Boy, I love being right! The above italicized quote is what I said yesterday in my article Connor McGregor Calls Black Boxers “Dancing Monkeys” In Interview (Video). I knew it was coming! No, you don’t have to call my psychic or anything like that. I just follow the trends. My eyebrows raised when Connor seemed as if he was gonna confront the racist allegation head on. But, of course, he went all the way left.
McGregor swaggered out to the front of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York dancing to Hypnotize by Notorious B.I.G, the undisputed “King of New York”. He then says in his opening on the microphone that Biggie was “the best of all time”. I knew he was pandering and that there was gonna be a segway to something about race. Boy, he didn’t disappoint! He said:
“A lot of media is saying I’m against black people. That’s absolutely f****** ridiculous. Do they not know I’m half black? I’m half-black from the bellybutton down. Here’s a little present for my beautiful black female fans!” He then started thrusting his groin into the air like he was having sex.
Y’all are really still defending this guy? Like really? You’re just gonna let him keep hitting at racial stereotypes until August 26th. Then, for the life of me, I don’t know why people are trying to attack me and Urban Intellectuals as a whole for reporting this. Like Business Insider didn’t report this exact same story before us! Are they clickbaiting? Maybe if your Great-White Hype was more inventive with his insults to Floyd we wouldn’t have to keep talking about stuff like this. McGregor is one dimensional though. And, all of you that are gonna be commenting on this future Facebook post talking about how we’re “writing misleading headlines”, “not down for the struggle” or “race baiting ourselves” won’t even read this. But, I bet you’ll be watching when Floyd lays hands on McGregor August 26th. I bet you’ll be silent then!
