Clinton, Iowa woman stabbed in the face by a racist white man. Shakra Simpson said she’s scarred for life after her encounter with Samuel Cheatheam. The man was kicked out of bar down the street from her house for using racial slurs. Afterward he approached two black men on the street and began shouting racial slurs at them. As a confrontation was about ensue Simpson said she approached because she “wanted to see a fight.” As Simpson approached the men Cheatheam looked at her and said, “you want some too nigger?” After which he pulled out a knife and slashed her faced.

Cheatheam reportedly has a long list of assault allegations and that night decided to add another allegation to it. When the police arrived Cheatheam was hiding in nearby apartment. After spending nine months in jail awaiting trial the judge charged Cheatheam with assault causing serious injury, without intent, a Class D felony, where he would serve no more than 5 years. He was also ordered to pay restitution. Simpson believed he should have been charged with attempted murder and a hate crime.
