It’s hard to know if Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson believes half of the things he says or if he’s just good at creating controversy but of course he had something controversial to say about Jay Z’s new album 4:44.

According to 50:

“I thought the sh*t was aight, I liked the sh*t but imma keep it 100, the sh*t was a little too smart. I felt like I was supposed to be wearing glasses and sh*t, like a f*cking sweater around my waist. It was like Ivy league sh*t.”

But Chuck D said the first thing I thought of when I heard 50’s response:

“So some people are saying @s_c_ album is too smart,” Chuck D wrote in the tweet. “What level does a 47 year old man supposed to spit at? Club sh*t? What kind of club? lol”

Eventually your mindset evolves and those basic ABC, 123 raps get old. Thankfully, Jay Z gave us some thinking music instead of sleeping music. He’s a grown man talking about grown man things.
