Nothing can really excuse this commercial.

An Asian woman gets propositioned by a black guy paintin her house. She stuffs him in the washing machine and he comes out Asian. If anyone even tries to defend this as not racist then I must say I am just dumbfounded.

This kind of thing should just not be mildly acceptable in this day and age.

You can see this outrageous commercial below. If this sells more or their washing powder it makes me incredibly sad.

However the saga doesn’t stop there.

It appears the Chinese commercial is a copy. A copy of an Italian commercial from around 9 years ago.

In the original a white Italian (looking) lady has a dweeby guy. She stuffs him in her washing machine and a buff built black dude comes out! Now, some would try and argue this was positive Me, I think it’s terrible.

In a follow-up the dweeb puts his female companion in the machine hoping to have an ebony beauty come out. Instead the same black guys emerges…. Sort of funny but still racist and you all know it!!

See the original below (and then please stay with us for some discussion.).

Both of these are as racist as each other as far as I am concerned. One says blacks are worse, one says they are better. In both cases objectification dehumanises and makes the black man an unthinking animal, good or bad.

To me this is outrageous on both terms. If we need to stamp out negative racism we need to be hard on the one’s that many view as “positive” too….. Racism and stereotypes are dangerous and set us back.
