This just in…and we can’t say we’re surprised.
The Charlotte, NC District Attorney has just confirmed that no charges will be filed against the police officer who killed Keith Lamont Scott outside his apartment on Sept. 20.
Here is the dashcam footage:
According to the DA, officer Brentley Vinson’s deadly use of force was lawful. Police were acting in self defense says DA Andrew Murray Wednesday (Nov 30).
In a unanimous decision reached by 15 prosecutors, he said no charges will be filed in the case. This, even though, the DA said that Scott did not raise his gun to police according to all eyewitnesses and police. The threat, according to the DA, was that he refused to put the gun down when told to over 10 times.
No word on if the threat could not have been subdued with a bullet to the knee or taser.
After going through an enormous amount of information which was considered in the decision, Murray urged the community to remain calm. He continued that even though people are frustrated, “Vinson was justified in shooting him.”
