Boycott Target: Black Community Growing Disgusted With the Retailer’s Disrespect

The past few weeks, we have run some articles featuring Quvenzhané Wallis, the 11 year old star actress taking the world by storm. Listening to the discussions that followed, i’m a bit surprised by what i’m hearing, but love it!

The black community has grown disgusted by Target’s behavior and treatment of Quvenzhane.

She starred in the movie “Annie” as the lead character and much controversy and disgust fell over the white community as they complained that Annie was a white girl, not black.

boycott targetNevermind the fact that Annie is a fictional character whose story is universal, the people were outraged because they didn’t want their little boys and girls growing up with a black Annie. Their frustration poured out through social media, the blogosphere and in chat rooms.

White people were in an uproar!

Target thought it would be a great idea to pull Quvenzhane from their in-store promotions in favor of a more traditional Annie, a little white girl.

They didn’t stop there, they also refused to apologize to Quvenzhane for their decision.

This seems to really be a tipping point within the black community. They seem to no longer want to sit on the sidelines and continue to allow people to step on and over our people and children.

Repeatedly in comment after comment, black people were saying they will no longer be shopping at target. They cannot believe they would do something so clearly racist and want to do something about it.
