#BlackGirlMagic: Black Golfers Make History on LPGA Tour & The Media Is Silent on Their Achievements

History records that four fantastic black golfers compete in Cambia Portland Classic event and people are not saying anything concerning it. Since the past 66 years, no color person has emerged as participants in the LPGA event.

After Althea Gibson marked her moment of glory as the first black woman to participate on the LPGA Tour, there has not been any report of such again. Many black golfers have been prevented from participating on the PGA and LPGA Tour dues to several factors.

Apart from awareness, access, and cost, the culture of the game also contributed to the absence of black golfers playing the LPGA Tour. Studies have shown that black people do not often invest both time and money in the game of golf.

Most black families usually get involved in sports such as football team, basketball and just to mention a few. Even if a black person plays golf for a long time, it is not well accepted by many. The sport called golf is beneficial for individuals who can spend their time and resources on it.

However, this fact may not be complete in the actual sense. A young black golfer does not have to invest in football or basketball.
