Tyshawn Lee is the 9 year old boy lured into and killed in Chicago recently. The media has heavily covered this story and people are talking about Tyshawn all over social media.
His devastated mother, Karla Lee, received $17,000 in donations from a “GoFundMe” account as people poured out their heartfelt donations to the family hoping to help them in some sort of way.
Apparently, the money must have came with conditions because Karla Lee is being villified in the media for purchasing a new car. However, it appears the funeral was already paid and she didn’t use all $17,000 on the purchase of the car.
We are hearing reports that she only used $4,000 of it towards the car. Nevertheless, who are we to judge what she should do with the money?
Karla Lee spoke out in response to the push back of her decision to buy a new car. The video is posted below.
One person had some strong opinions on the slander of Karla Lee by the people and the media for her decision to do what is best for her family moving forward and he alluded to a bigger issue of black victim blaming in every other case.

Blaming the victim? Why?
Loud? Yes!!!!! But until you have to get up at 630am to go stand on the bus stop in a high crime area or come home after dark and walk a few blocks then you don’t know shit about judging safety. I live in an area where crime happens if near dark I WILL NOT walk to the Walgreens that’s two blocks away, my car does absolutely represent safety.
To be clear her son’s funeral was fully paid for. What do YOU think the money should have went to? After you answer that my second question is “Who the phuck’is you!?!?!? I seen someone say move. Move where and after the move how many months is 17 grand really going to cover rent in a nice area? A year? After the money is gone then what? Americans love to move issues around the table without providing real solutions.
PLEASE name one Black person that has been a victim that has gained national attention that has not been demonized by the media and public in some way. Please name one.

I dont think ppl are “judging” her i just think they are up-n-arms (bent) that their (empathetic) donations went towards a material luxury that some of them dont/may not even have (for) themselves!, and (in their eyes) equates to a [“theft by deception”] slap in the face! – to ask someone for (monetary) help to feed ur hungry kids but turn around and takem to Chucky Cheeses’ (instead of to the GROCERY store) with the money they gave you, just NOT a cool ?
