Piano-playing bluesman Daryl Davis has played with Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis to name a few.
he is just one of those guys that you like within moments of meeting him! He is so likeable that over the years he has gone into the heart of darkness and befriended scores of Klansmen.
BUT WHY WOULD HE DO THAT?
Drawing much criticism, Daryl has entered the home of those that hate him and his people the most. He has broken bread with the enemy and continues to do so.
Daryl doesn’t believe that all these men are evil. Angry, misinformed and upset, but he has spent years trying to educate them on the hate and the real history of black folks in the USA. He has collected robes from men up and down the country who have disavowed their KKK membership thanks to his extended hand and words of wisdom.
And now, a new documentary shows this journey, shows the ups, downs, supporters and critics.
The documentary “Accidental Courtesy” (by Matt Ornstein) follows Daryl on his journey. He is shown going to confederate monuments and Klansmen homes, boogie joints and churches.
His journey to educate.
