The Jackson city police are investigating are investigating a decapitation case in their city today. Early Saturday morning, a group of children found a severed head on the porch of a house. One mile away the burned remains of a body was found. Initial investigations show that it is indeed a black man that was decapitated. With the history of the south and, in particular Mississippi, racial motivation is the first thing that comes to mind.

Investigations are still ongoing. According to WLBT, authorities are not ruling out that this could be gang related. Jackson Chief of Police Lee Vance spoke about the incident, providing clarification on a possible motive.

“Obviously, rage was an ingredient, perhaps some type of message sending. No I have never seen anything to occur where a head has been torn or cut from a body.”

Residents of where the severed body was found said that they didn’t recognize the person. Author and producer of the documentary series Hidden Colors Tariq Nasheed spoke on the incident and may have some exclusive information from residents of Jackson, saying that the victim was a homeless man.
