Black Female Physicist Given $1m To Revoluntionize Cancer Treatment

Dr. Hadiyah-Nicole Green is an amazing role model! As one of less than 100 black women physicists in the U.S. she is pushing forward with research and a plan for clinical trials that looks to drastically change the treatment of cancer and make it far less harmful.

Her research is looking to finalise a platform that can individually identify certain cells so that they can be separated for treatment. In this case it simply means cancer cells can be directly targeted with lasers and nanotechnology leaving healthy cells completely untouched. It’s simple for even the non-medically trained of us to see what an impact this would have!

She was recently awarded a $1.1 million grant to further develop this patent-pending technology. Although she is not the first to play with the idea she is certainly pushing the boundaries to bring it to actually use.

Asides from this she she sees her role as a black female in a white male dominated environment and rarely turns down the chance to speak and put herself forward as a positive role-model.

She said:

“Usually if there is an invitation to speak at a forum like that, I accept it because I feel like it’s a responsibility,” she said. “There are so few of us (black women in STEM fields) I don’t feel like I have the luxury to say I’m too busy.”

Amazing woman and we are all behind her! Read more of her extroidinary research and her personal involvement with cancer here: bit.ly/1OzMZYi
