April is financial literacy month and while there is a lot to say and a lot to do with personal financial literacy your general habits affect more than just you! I personally think one very important thing should be practised by each and every one of us in the community. Pushing these values will affect the way we think, create a better environment for us and ultimately make us all more financially secure.
Keeping money within the community is NOT always the cheapest option upfront but really if we can help raise all of those around us we will in turn be raised too.
So, try and keep your money black and local, and if you can’t keep it black keep it local.
Every decision from who you bank with to who you buy your jam from can be in your control.
You need a new account, find a black bank, DO THAT NOW!
You need to buy food for the week, find a local person to cook your lunches and pay them direct, instead of going to the fast-food restaurant every day.
You need your car fixed, find a local black self employed mechanic, he’ll probably price match the big garages anyway.
Make these decisions, feel better about your spending, help your community, keep the money flowing around you and climb higher with those around you.
What do you think?
