Authorities are Closer to Identifying Suspect in American University Hate Crime

Several bananas were tied with a noose in different locations on American University’s Campus were marked with the letters “AKA” which are the Greek letter for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. These bananas and nooses where following the election of the first female President of the University’s student government. Taylor Dumpson the history making student government President is member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

The FBI is now involved and this is being considered a hate crime due the clear and blatant racist references. The entire message on the banana was “AKA FREE” referring to the predominantly black sorority and “HARAMBEE BAIT” referring to the gorilla that was killed at the Cincinnati Zoo last May.

Since the FBI had been involved in the investigation a video has surfaced of the person who hang the noose bananas throughout the campus, it looks like a male and he appears to wearing something over is face. A $1,000 reward is being offered to anyone that provided information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
