“The man who has learned to do something better than anyone else, has learned to do a common thing in an uncommon manner, is the man who has a power and influence that no adverse circumstances can take from him.”
-Booker T. Washington, The Case of The Negro
You know what’s funny? The fact that I knew that I’d become a success at a young age. As I sat down at my laptop working on my debut novel The Diary of Aaliyah Anderson, I knew that I was writing a classic that would change the lives of readers around the world. It wasn’t an arrogant mindset that was driving me to my goals. I just knew that I was starting on my journey to becoming one of the most influential young men of my generation!
Why haven’t others started to claim their destiny yet?
I always set out to attract a significant amount of abundance in my life. While the word abundance has many meanings, the definition that speaks to me the most is “affluence and wealth”. Let’s be honest, most people tend to detract abundance more than they attract it. It’s fascinating to see the people in my daily life preoccupied with settling for less from their lives. I just don’t understand it!
I’ve been working towards my dream since I was a child. I’ve always wanted to be a writer. As I grew into a young man, my writing style evolved as well. Back when I was little, I used to write comic books on printer paper and staple it together so it could be bound together like a book. Then my friend and I would go to the playground with my brand new, completely original, handmade comic books and hustle them to the students that went to our elementary school. Twenty-five cents an issue! We actually use to come up with a lil’ money too! Just enough to get some ice cream the following day at lunch!
That evolved into me writing about real life issues using characters that have the qualities of the people I interact with on a daily basis. Before The Diary of Aaliyah Anderson I was writing this novel series that I called Gangsta High. I was writing on that story for five years! Even though it wasn’t my best work in any way, shape or form, I’d let people read it and they’d be astonished how much they’d relate to it. Even folks that hated the sight of me used to read and enjoy my stories! Isn’t that a mess?
To make a long story short, I’ve been hustling for too long to know what being complacent feels like. When I see the folks around me waste their lives away smoking their brains out, fighting, doing plain old stupid stuff and associating with the wrong people (intimately and in friendships), it makes me mad. I boil over with anger. I want to help them so badly! But what can I do? Why should I waste my precious time trying to help someone that doesn’t truly want the assistance? I guess I can only lead by example…..
I need everybody reading this to get their minds right! Simply put, if things aren’t going right in your life you need to reevaluate your situation. Don’t blame your circumstances. Maybe it’s you! Have you put yourself in a position to attract abundance? Take a quick glance at this checklist below to see if you are:
- Are new ideas always circulating in your head?
- Do you profusely despise people that are counterproductive to your goals?
- Are you putting in the right amount of time to achieve your goals?
- Has your view of the world matured and expanded?
If you said yes to any of these questions, I’m happy to say that you’re well on your way to mental, spiritual, physical and financial freedom! If you answered no to two or more of these questions, you need to wake up from your inferiority complex produced trance! It’s a new day!

I can faintly hear the words of Drake’s song Successful fill my mind as clear as day, “I want the money, money and the cars, cars and the clothes…I suppose, I just wanna be, I just wanna be, successful.”
At some point in life, you will crave the desire to be successful at whatever you set out to do or become. The desire for success will create the vision and need of attaining abundance. Are you prepared to sacrifice, endure blood, sweat and tears to get where you want to be in life? Are you prepared to attract your success and your abundance or will you distract them?
Success
Success is not a destination. You do not miraculously climb to the top of the mountain of success effortlessly and stay there comfortably. While you are climbing the highest steepest rockiest mountain (success), you will encounter a few slippages, heightened wind gusts, your limbs will tire and you will doubt that you can continue onward and upward. In essence, success is a journey. It is a process, which encompasses progress engulfed with uncertainties and unknowns. To endure it, you will have to be tough minded, sharp-witted, and physically astute because you will encounter a plethora of life challenges that will appear seemingly designed to sway you off course and thwart your progress. How will you handle it? Will you attract your success or distract your success?
You can attract success in various ways. Let’s take attitude for example. Attitude is everything. It’s mind over matter. A positive mindset can overcome struggle, attract and uncover a wealth of success. Therefore, whatever goal you aspire to reach, whatever you want to do in life, your success can originate from your attitude. An additional aspect of a positive attitude is being fluid in the way you think and having an open mind, mixed together like a flavorful mixture of gumbo, they can lead to unlimited possibilities.
Another way to attract success is to make wise choices that can carry you forward and not backwards as you embark on your journey. There is a famous saying “Life is ten percent of what happens to you and ninety percent of how you react to it. Therefore, the choices you make can influence, attract or distract your success today, tomorrow, and in the future.
Thirdly, be in it to win it. Be committed to your goals and your dreams. A critical part of your success is having the ability and the desire to maintain a high level of commitment to see a task, a goal, a job, a project, a dream, etc. through. You must remain committed, diligent, and steadfast. Do not succumb to the naysayers, the debilitating, disarming, and negative influences of others, despite the odds stacked against you. You must have the ability to keep taking action repeatedly even after continuous failures. Those who are successful have no problem taking calculated risks. They fear less and push more.
Lastly, eradicate and erase doubt. Doubt? Nobody has time for that! WTF? (W)here’s (T)he (F)aith? It is common and in our nature to doubt when things are not going as planned, but in order to overcome obstacles that can hinder our progress and distract our success, we must banish doubt and replace negative thoughts with positive ones. We must learn to trust and be led by faith and not by sight. Try it; you will be amazed at the achievements you can and will accomplish. Attract it by conceiving it, believing it and achieving it!
Abundance
Vision that has no foundation and drive is merely a dream deferred. Our world is infinitely abundant and we all deserve our share of that abundance. All we have to do is be prepared to attract it and accept it. However, the reality is that at a subconscious level, many of us simply do not believe that we deserve the abundance we seek. We tend to focus on what we lack and when we do that, we simply attract more of the same (lack). Wanting a positive outcome but thinking negatively about the things you want is what I call “stinking thinking”. If you think negative, you will attract negative, thus you are distracting your abundance and not attracting it.
So what is the remedy you may ask? A promising tactic is to rid ourselves of “stinking thinking.” To achieve your unlimited abundance, you must release this way of thinking. Instead, focus your thoughts and attention on the positive aspects of things, like being grateful for the things you already have. By doing so, you will attract more of what you want (abundance). In fact, gratitude is one of the key elements in achieving unlimited abundance.
Take a moment to analyze your life. When you do, you will find both big and small things to be grateful for in your life. It could be the people you are surrounded by, your family, your friends, little events that put a smile on your face, etc. Our lives are filled with abundance in various ways currently, but often we choose to overlook it, ignore it or become distracted. Therefore, every day, set just a small amount of time aside to think about and be grateful for all the good things you already have in your life. Cherish and focus on the good things that do exist and pay close attention to how you will attract even more into your life.
Life is too short not to live it to its fullest. Remember, your external reality mirrors your internal beliefs. How you think the world is for you tends to become your reality. By changing your inner thinking, you can change your external reality and you can attract and not distract your success and abundance.
