A second Emmett Till memorial has been vandalized. The first sign, near the Tallahatchie River were Till’s dead body was found, was riddle with gunshot holes.

Now a second memorial has been vandalized. This sign is located outside of Bryant’s Grocery & Meat Market where Carolyn Bryant falsely accused Till of whistling at her in August of 1955.

Vinyl panels that contained pictures and history about Emmett Till were damaged on the memorial. The panels were metal so it’s obvious that some tools where used to intentional deface and damage the memorial.

Funds have been raised to replace the first memorial that was vandalized, hopefully the same will occur for the second memorial.

This is a part of American history we cannot allow racist white Americans to erase. This is also a clear sign that this racism they want to continuously remind us doesn’t exist, actually does exist. And it doesn’t just exist in the minds of others but also in the judicial system because Carolyn should be in jail, it’s been almost 10 years since she admitted she lied about her encounter with Till.
