AMAZING WOMAN: Harriet Tubman, Abolitionist, Humanitarian, Spy, Suffragette

Have you heard of Harriet Tubman? She was an amazing African American woman.

Born as Araminta Ross around 1822 she escaped slavery.

She made thirteen missions recuing around seventy enslaved families and friends using the Unerground Railroad. During the American Civil War she acted as a Union Spy. She helped abolitionist John Brown recruit men for his raid on Harpers Ferry.

Post-war things didn’t stop, she was a very active participant in the fight for women’s suffrage.

She died aged 91 in 1913.
