A week after the killing of unarmed, black teenager Michael Brown, the Ferguson Police department released the name of the officer who did the shooting.
His name is Darren Wilson, according the Ferguson, MO police department. And according to the officials, Wilson and his family have been moved out of town for their safety and protection. Too bad Michael Brown didn’t receive the same treatment.
Police Chief Thomas Jackson held a quick press conference releasing the name of the police officer involved in the shooting. However, he didn’t take any questions after the release of the name.
According to ABCNews:
At the time of the shooting on Saturday, Wilson was on a routine patrol when he encountered Brown and a friend walking in the street, Jackson said. Authorities have previously said that a scuffle ensued after the officer asked the teens to move to the side. Witnesses have said Brown’s hands were raised when he was shot multiple times.
“We’re learning and we’re moving forward. This all starts now to heal, to just make things better,” Jackson previously told ABC News.

There is hope in the air that releasing the name of the officer involved in the shooting will help to ease tension between the community and the police department.
Ferguson, MO has been a hot spot of protest and civil unrest since the shooting and murder occurred with no end in sight, but maybe things will get better so the investigation can continue.
Not sure if this will bring peace, but we know it will not bring back Michael Brown, so we are not sure how the police department, Governor or anyone else thinks this issue is over or will be swept under the rug.
