Ever since former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a knee in the face of continuous injustice by dirty cops in America, the sports world has been ablaze. All eyes have been on the owners and management of the NFL as we are literally on Kaepernick signing watch. Will he land in Baltimore? Maybe Miami? After the Dolphins decided to sign mediocre quarterback Jay Cutler instead of Kaepernick, things started to get interesting. Black America collectively decided to finally get behind a boycott of the NFL. Down my timeline, I see many people saying that they won’t be tuning into the NFL this season. Some people say that they won’t watch a single down, even if Kaep gets signed.
Saying you’re not gonna watch the sport is all well and good. It sends a great message if there’s a significant decline in viewership. However, do you really want to take things to a new level and make it where the owners truly hear you? We here at Urban Intellectuals did some research and compiled a list of companies that we can collectively boycott if Colin isn’t signed come the start of the regular season. We can even get this train going right now since preseason has already started!
