TIDAL was the genius child of Jay Z. He entered into the music streaming business with some MAJOR celebrity’s support. But time has shown that TIDAL needs more than just namesake to make them the leader in the industry. For a newcomer TIDAL is performing well with approximately 4.2 million subscribers but their biggest competitors are crushing them right now. Apple has about 13 million subscribers and Spotify is at 30 million.
But it doesn’t look like that will be a problem for long, TIDAL is about to team up with Sprint. For a mere $200 million, Sprint will have a 33 percent stake in TIDAL which will give Sprint’s 45 million customers “unlimited access” to TIDAL.
“Sprint shares our view of revolutionizing the creative industry to allow artists to connect directly with their fans and reach their fullest, shared potential,” Jay Z said in a press release.
“Jay saw not only a business need, but a cultural one, and put his heart and grit into building TIDAL into a world-class music streaming platform that is unrivaled in quality and content,” Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure stated.
He’ll show you how to do this son!
