What is it that bothers police when they see a black man walking down the street? This man was walking to his hotel room and was stopped. Why? Because some white person called the police saying they saw a suspicious black man near their backyard and he looked strange. The police first response is to stop the first black man they see due to this call. Not because he is still by the said persons backyard. Not because he is carrying anything that look stolen.
If you don’t know who Ricky Williams is, he is one of the best running backs the University of Texas has ever seen. In fact, he was in town to get an award for being such a great running back. As seen in the video below, the police clearly know who he is, yet they ask him for his social security number, birthday, and etc.
Let me say I’m glad he wasn’t shot or murdered. The mere fact that I have to celebrate that is a problem. I don’t have the answer to this police issue, but I know something has to change. Seeing stuff like this almost compels me to become a hater of white people in general. However, I know not all white people are the problem. We are dealing with a system that we cannot defeat individually. But organizing can take down this monster. Marcus Garvey laid down the blueprint, we just have to implement it.
