Dylann Roof’s journal was read in court and it gave us a peek at what true white supremacy looks like. In a time when many find it hard to believe, Roof has shown that hate and racism exists and it’s ruthless. It may be a hard pill for some to swallow but most of us are not surprised. When a person can walk into a church and kill people who welcomed him in and even offered to pray with him, he has to be a really sick individual.

When I sit and think about what this terrorist did all I can think of is how much of a coward he is. According to Roof he had no choice but to kill “innocent” black people because, “We have no skinheads, no real K.K.K., no one doing anything but talking on the internet,” he wrote. “Well someone has to have the bravery to take it to the real world, and I guess that has to be me.” And according to him black people are “the biggest problem for Americans.”

He wrote in a journal seized by the court, “I would like to make it crystal clear I do not regret what I did. I am not sorry. I have not shed a tear for the innocent people I killed.” Who would expect him to have any regrets when he killed 9 praying people and was taken to Burger King because the police were sure he had worked up an appetite after a long tough day of murdering people but a man selling dvds outside of a gas station is shot in the chest by police. With that being said we live in a sick and twisted and neo Nazi white supremacist come in all different shapes, forms, and careers. But at least Roof is honest about who he is and how he feels but that doesn’t make him any less of a coward.
