2017 Day 4: Chicago ALREADY Has Two Officer Shooting Investigations Underway!

by | Jan 4, 2017 | News | 0 comments

Is this the way 2017 is going to be? 4 days in and two officer involved shootings are already underway by the city of Chicago! And to make it worse, this was the situations less than two days into the year after the officer involved shootings in question happened on Sunday and Monday!

The Chicago Tribune reported:

About two hours after the calendar flipped to 2017 on Sunday, an officer shot a man after a car chase on the Far South Side ended with the suspect crashing his vehicle into a police squad car. The man was shot after a physical altercation with officers in the street, police said. He remains hospitalized in serious condition.

“I have a lot more questions than I have answers at this time,” said Johnson, wearing a black knit cap as he stood in a cold drizzle at the scene of the shooting in the 2500 block of North Lowell Avenue. “I came out because I wanted to make sure the investigation was done properly.”

Chicago faced a tumultuous 2016 with the highest number of homicides in 20 years, 762 homicides and over than 4,300 shootings.

We can only hope this was just a rocky start and that it really isn’t a sign of things to come. Sadly my hope is running very thin!
