Back in November, just before the election, when a black Mississippi church burned and vandalized with graffiti reading‘Vote Trump’ it felt like yet another bigoted and probably racist attack on the black community.
While, it still is a bigoted attack on the black community the story has taken a strange twist as the man arrested and charged for the burning is a black congregation member.
A motive has not yet officially been identified but the whole thing is a twisted mess and we can only speculate on what was going through his head. Not only why would a man burn down a church but also why would any black man be pro Trump!
Andrew McClinton, 45, of Leland, Mississippi, was charged with first-degree arson of a place of worship with no motive cited.
No injuries were reported and whilst authorities don’t think the crime was actually politically motivated you have to ask yourself what this wanted to achieve.
Did he want to push further divide and fear in the community, was he mad at the church, did he really support Trump that much!
After the event the local and international community pooled together and raised over $200k in two days to fix the broken church via GoFundMe.
