Seriously, do we need more of this! Are the youth not supposed to be our future? It’s videos like this that can make a man lose hope.
The racist snapchat post by students at Oregon City High School shows them complaining about principle Tom Lovell and black student enrollment.
Former student Marcus Hasan saw the snapchat and posted it to Twitter to expose this mess.
Tom Lovell responded saying:
“Exactly the type of negative behavior we are trying to stop. It won’t be tolerated. There will be severe consequences for this.”
And the school district released a statement which said the students would:
“will face disciplinary action up to and possibly including expulsion.”
And continued:
“School administrators will also work with the students involved to make this situation a teachable moment and assist them in efforts to repair the pain caused by their actions and words,”
Hasan said that:
“It made me feel kind of sick… When I saw the video, I just felt like I needed to post it because all the racist stuff that’s been going around in Oregon City, and I don’t think, like, everybody really knows what that word means and why they shouldn’t be saying that.”
And the parents of one of the students involved called his son’s actions “Deplorable” and said they would make sure he is “engaged in organizations and/or programs that promote equality and tolerance.”
The school has had a number of racist incidents. Watch the video below and read more on The Grio here.
