Typically on Veteran’s Day there are a lot of restaurants that offer free meals to veteran. This is a great gestures to show thanks to our Veterans for their service. U.S. Army Veteran, Ernest Walker, was denied his free meal at Chili’s after a Trump supporter at Chili’s told the manager Walker was not a Veteran because he did not take off his hat while indoors.
Before speaking to the manager the Trump supporter had some racist words for Walker, letting him know, “he was in Germany, and that they did not let Blacks serve over there.” And even though Walker showed the manager his credentials the manager still took Walker’s food, denying him his free meal.
Although Chili’s issued a statement stating that they have a “goal to make every guest feel special” and they will work towards rectifying the situation, Walker told the Dallas Morning News that as of Sunday, Chili’s had not apologized directly to him. He also said he felt the election has “changed the hearts” of people.
“I do believe that the election has changed the hearts and changed the motives of people so much so that he believed in his heart and mind after talking to the Trump supporter that I was stealing food,” Walker said.
Walker and his attorney will be meeting with representatives for Chili’s soon in hopes of rectifying the situation and hopefully he will receive his well-deserved apology.
