“I’m tired of talking about where we’ve been. I’m more interested in talking about where we’re going. We have to mature as a community and start demanding solutions,” Michael Tubbs told an audience following his victory in Stockton City, California.
Twenty-six year-old, Michael Tubbs made history in Stockton City by not only becoming the first black Mayor but also the youngest.
Tubbs story is an admirable one.
Tubbs is a Stanford graduate who interned at Google and the White House.
Most of the time when individuals come from a rough neighborhood they work hard to get out and don’t look back. Tobbs decided to go back to his hometown to help make a difference after his cousin was killed in 2010.
Since then his actions have been speaking volumes. Not only did he serve on the City Council he has worked tirelessly to bring health clinics to his district. He has also been working on improving the relationship between the community and the police.
Tubbs may be just what the city needs to get it back on the right track.
