Obama Grants 100s Of Drug Offenders Freedom, Saving 67 From Death Behind Bars!

The President commuted the sentences of 214 federal prisoners in a single day this last Wednesday. The prisoners were incarcerated on drug charges.

That brings his commuted tally up to 562. The Huff Post reported that 67 of those people were serving life sentences, so pretty much had to believe they were going to die in jail, behind bars.

This is all part of the clemency initiative aiming to review drug offence sentences and release eligible prisoners.

Many see the heavy sentences for drug offences as an attack on the black community so this initiative has been welcomed although some expected the commuting to be nearer 10,000!

This obviously brings a great deal of hope to many behind bars spending way longer than their crime should have had them there. Hopefully it sets a standard and the next president would carry on the work.

With Hilary and Trump as the two current candidates it’s hard to know if they really would continue this kind of justified and moral review of this part of the prison system.

Do you think he has and is doing enough?
