It is rare in the 21st century to hear a police officer speak the truth when it comes to one of their own who is doing wrong. Many call the Blue Wall of Silence an unwritten rule among police officers. Therefore, when one has the courage to break the silence and speak out, the people take notice.
Officer Nakia Jones is with the Cleveland police department and one of the rare breed. She, like many of us, was working when the news and video broke about Alton Sterling being killed at the hands of Baton Rouge police officers.
However, instead of falling in like like 99.9% of police officers around the country and backing the officers who killed Sterling, Officer Jones took to her Facebook page and passionately displayed her outrage over the situation….and called it MURDER, which so many can plainly see.
Officer Jones brought tears to listeners eyes as she spoke about taking the oath as a police officer to protect and serve. She mentions that she often tells people that not all police officers are like those portrayed negatively in the news. Many care and will give their life for others, including herself.
However, when she watched the video, over and over again, there was only one conclusion to make. This was murder!
We have to do our best to support this brave officer for speaking out because we know the Police unions, fraternal order of police and her collegues will harrass and outcast Officer Jones for telling the truth. Officers who break the Blue Wall of Silence can be ill treated, to say the least, in police circles.
Let’s be sure to have her back
But take a few minutes to listen to her reaction to the Alton Sterling killing here below.
