The Arthur Courage Award will be presented to Zaevion Dobson in his deceased state. The award was first presented to the public in the year 1993. Zaevion is specially presented with the Courage Award for his dedicated move of saving two young women from being killed by gunfire.
According to ESPN reports, the 15-year-old Zaevion, a football player will be given the Arthur Ashe Award for this year. Zaevion remained a sophomore at Fulton High School in Tennessee and was murdered on December 17th by gunfire. The two young women the football player protected later survived the incident.
According to law enforcement agents, the people who shot the gunfire came around Zaevion’s community and participated in other criminal activities.
For the ESPYS’ highest honor, Zaevion has remained the youngest award winner ever since the inception of the event in 1993. The award simply reflects people who shared the same dedication of Ashe for helping other people survive.
When someone sacrifices their life for others to live, there is nothing above this as mentioned by Maura Mandt, the executive production officer for the ESPYS. In December, the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama honored Zaevion on Twitter. Obama called the 15-year-old football player a hero that will be remembered for his dedicated service to humanity.
