Could you imagine waking up early in morning, getting yourself and children ready for church, and arriving at church to a hate group standing outside of your place of worship with guns?

Well that is what BAIR, the Bureau of American Islamic Relations, has been doing for quite some time now. They have been showing up at mosques with firearms as an intimidation tactic but South Texas worshipers were not having it.

In November, armed protesters stalked Muslims in Irving, Texas.

The following month, they showed up at the Islamic Association of North Texas.

This Saturday things didn’t go as planned for BAIR because when they showed up in at the Nation of Islam mosque in South Dallas the worshipers were armed as well. With no intention to harm anyone but to protect their congregation and to express their freedom of speech and right to bear arms in the same fashion BAIR chose to express theirs’.

The Nation of Islam, the Huey P. Newton Gun Club, and members of the New Black Panther Party, a self-defense group, joined forces to protect the worshipers at the mosque.

It’s interesting how the news publicizes people of color in negative every chance they get but when you have hate groups like BAIR and the KKK trying to intimidate people of color by “exercising their right to freedom of speech and right to bear arms” it receives little to no media attention.
