#AvaBarbie was created by Mattel for their Shero project. The doll made in the likeness of Ava DuVernay who directed “Selma” was never destined for large scale production until the masses demanded it.
So, Mattel put it into production and the sleek braided hair, director chair chilling, all black clad doll hit the Mattel site for sale on Monday morning.
Well, #BlackTwitter blew up and gave the company a big suprise. #AvaBarbie was sold out in just 15 minutes!
