Black youth around the world continue to do amazing things. WE just have to take a moment to turn off the lamestream media who ignores our young people and tune into the wonderful things they are achieving.
These adorable, 10 year old Canadian twins Nia and Imani Lindsay are rising to the top of the ballet world with their amazing dexterity, drive and amazing talent for dance.
So much so, they have been recognized and awarded scholarships to one of the most prestigious dance organizations in the world, the American Ballet Theatre.
The young twins were awarded scholarships to the American Ballet Theatre’s annual “Young Dancers Summer Workshop” last year. According to their website, the workshop provides an “opportunity for serious young dancers, ages 9-11 and 12 year-olds at the beginning pointe level, to actively flourish in a professional, yet nurturing environment. The outstanding faculty members of ABT will provide unparalleled instruction, while remaining sensitive to the developmental needs of younger dancers.
”
The girls were interviewed by Urban Bush Babies about the prestigious program and their scholarship to the American Ballet Theatre:
“It [the scholarship] was from an ABT audition we went to for a summer intensive,” explained Nia.
As expected, the twins were motivated and inspired by Misty Copeland.
“I went to meet her,” said Nia. “She was really nice. She’s humble, a good dancer, and not cocky.”
“And she’s a good influence,” added Imani. “She’s not like Miley Cyrus at all.”
